Chula Vista EOC Update June 18th

New state guidelines for face coverings were announced today. Starting June 18, in California, people must wear face coverings

  • Inside, or in line, for any indoor public space
  • When seeking healthcare in a hospital, pharmacy, medical clinic, laboratory, physician or dental office
  • In the workplace when

o   Interacting in person with the public

o   The workplace is visited by the public

o   Where food is prepared or packaged for distribution

o   Work includes common areas such as hallways, stairways, elevators and parking facilities

o   In any enclosed area where people are unable to physically distance      

  • In public when

o   Driving or using public transit 

o   While outdoors in public spaces where physical distance of six feet is not feasible

County officials announced there have been eight outbreaks in community settings in the last seven days – which is a trigger for considering additional actions. Officials announced these actions:

  • County will pause on any future re-openings (theme parks, etc.) The openings scheduled for June 19 will be allowed (personal services, nail salons, etc.)
  • County encourages targeted enforcement of businesses not in compliance with face covering and social distancing requirements
  • Officials reiterated the seriousness of the current situation and increase in outbreaks and spread. Residents are reminded to wear face coverings, social distance, and wash hands.

As of June 18, in San Diego County, there are 10,092 cases and 331 deaths. There have been 1,578 residents admitted to the hospital with 437 of those admitted to the ICU. As of June 17, there are 1,485 cases in Chula Vista.
