Planning continues for the San Diego Food Bank distribution event on Friday, April 10, at 9 a.m. at Southwestern College. EOC staff, CVPD, and Public Works are coordinating with the Food Bank and Southwestern College for the event. The event will provide food packages to 1,000 cars. A separate email on participating in the event was distributed to Mayor and Council.
The County continues to promote calling 2-1-1 or visiting 211sandiego.org for information and resources on COVID-19, food distribution, health care information and a host of other resources for seniors/older adults, families, homeless/unsheltered, and more. It is available 24/7 and people can be assisted in 200 languages.
As you know, the April 7 City Council Meeting will be a live teleconference webcast on the City website and broadcast on Cox Cable channel 24 in Chula Vista and on AT&T U-verse channel 99 throughout the County. This has been promoted with the news media, on the City website and on social media. As of April 7, there are 1,407,000 cases worldwide with 81,103 deaths. There are 380,000 cases in the United States with 12,285 deaths. In California, there are 16,429 cases with 397 deaths. In San Diego County, there are 1,454 cases with 31 deaths. As of April 6, there are 104 cases in Chula Vista.
